Production Planner / Manufacturing Methods Specialist
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Procurement and Logistics, the incumbent is responsible for production planning, scheduling, and follow-up, while also ensuring the optimization of manufacturing methods. The incumbent acts as a key link between the production, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure operational efficiency, product quality, and compliance with deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain short-, medium-, and long-term production planning based on demand, projects, and customer orders.

Issue, monitor, and adjust production orders according to capacity, priorities, and constraints.

Manage unforeseen events and production emergencies, such as shortages, delays, and changes in priorities, by proposing solutions that reduce negative impacts on ongoing projects and/or customer orders.

Collaborate with Purchasing to ensure the availability of raw materials and subcontracting services.

Maintain strong communication between production, sales, and project managers.

Ensure delivery dates are met and communicate any impacts in the event of changes.

Analyze the production flow in order to anticipate workforce needs.

Ensure that material consumption and shipments are processed daily to guarantee inventory accuracy.

Monitor inventory levels and recommend adjustments, such as min/max levels and safety stock.

Analyze, maintain, and optimize the Bill of Materials (BOM) management process in collaboration with the engineering and procurement teams.

Optimize production rates and workflows, in collaboration with the Plant Supervisor, in order to improve efficiency.

Analyze technical drawings to determine and optimize manufacturing methods.

Develop manufacturing routings, work procedures, and operating methods.

Define the tooling, machines, workstations, and production time required for manufacturing.

Analyze existing processes and propose improvements related to productivity, quality, and safety.

Participate in the implementation of new methods, equipment, or products.

Monitor performance indicators, including deadlines, output, and efficiency, and propose adjustments as needed.

Improve planning processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Profile
Education and Experience
- College diploma (DEC) or bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering, operations management, or equivalent experience
- 3 to 5 years of planning experience in a manufacturing company
- Experience with an ERP system; Business Central is an asset
- Experience reading technical drawings and optimizing manufacturing methods
