Planiform, a leader in automated conveyor systems, is looking for a full-time Senior Control Engineer to join our Terrebonne, QC team!
This position is aimed at creative engineers who are passionate about technical challenges and eager to fully dedicate themselves to the design and optimization of innovative material handling systems. It is ideal for those who prioritize the technical aspects of creative engineering over management and are driven by a passion for excellence in automation and material handling.
Key Responsibilities:
· Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with project managers and the existing technical team (automation, mechanical, software, electrical) to develop advanced material handling systems for automating the storage, transport and management of garments on hanger for globals e-commerce platforms.
· System Development and Prototyping: Play an active role in system development, involving both computer-aided design work and hands-on experimentation in the company’s dedicated laboratory to test and optimize GOH handling equipment and subsystems.
· Technical Project Management: Handle end-to-end automation tasks, including programming industrial programmable logic controllers (PLCs), managing networking components, and overseeing the design of electrical panels and controls.
· Collaborative Innovation: Actively participate in brainstorming sessions for the project, contributing to idea generation and problem-solving.
· Mechanical Design: Occasionally collaborate with mechanical engineers to assist in the development and design of the system’s mechanical components.
· Validation and Testing: Lead the site acceptance testing (SAT) phases at the client’s location to ensure compliance and performance.
· Commissioning and Support: Carry out system commissioning and provide ongoing technical support as a key resource for the efficient operation and optimization of installations.
· Versatility and Adaptation: Take on various related tasks to support project progress, adapting strategies and techniques as needed to meet team objectives.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Automated Production Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Robotics Engineering.
· Minimum 10 years of experience in automation or related field.
· Strong knowledge of PLC systems (Allen-Bradley) and programming languages such as GRAFCET, ladder logic, structured text (ST).
· Good electrical knowledge (control and power).
· Proficient in designing complete control systems for material handling.
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
· Ability to work under pressure.
· Experience in Material Handling.
· Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
· Valid driver’s license.
