Our client, Planiform, is seeking a senior engineer with experience in automation (PLC) and strong skills in analysis, problem-solving, documentation, and communication to join its multidisciplinary R&D team at its Terrebonne facility.
Planiform designs and installs state-of-the-art robotic and automated conveyor systems for international fashion retailers' distribution centres. Driven by innovation, artificial intelligence, and significant investment in R&D, the team is shaping the future of global logistics.
Your main responsibilities
- Play an active role in R&D by designing systems and prototypes, and by conducting laboratory tests and on-site acceptance tests (SAT) at the customer's premises;
- Handle all automation tasks (including programming (PLC), network component management, and supervision of electrical panel and control design;
- Collaborate on the development and integration of advanced algorithms, captors, sensors and mechanical components;
- Perform system commissioning and provide ongoing technical support as a key resource for the efficient operation and optimization of installations;
- Actively participate in brainstorming (R&D) and project kickoff sessions, contributing to idea generation and problem-solving.

Prerequisites
- Bachelor's degree in automated production engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics engineering, or robotics engineering;
- 10 years of relevant experience in automation or a related field;
- Proficiency or in-depth knowledge of PLC systems (Allen-Bradley);
- Proficiency or in-depth knowledge of GRAFCET, ladder logic, and structured text (ST) programming languages;
- Knowledge of reinforcement learning, AI models, and machine learning applications in robotics;
- Knowledge of robotic design processes and tools (CAD, rapid prototyping, etc.);
- Good knowledge of electrical (control and power) and mechanical systems;
- Experience in an R&D environment;
